Last chance to share your thoughts on Sandwell’s local open spaces
30 July 2024
Sandwell Council invites residents throughout the borough
to tell us what you think about your local open spaces.
These spaces include parks, gardens, sports facilities, nature reserves, playgrounds, allotments and community gardens.
The survey, which will close on Friday 9 August, is a crucial component of the Open Space Assessment initiative. This comprehensive assessment involves on-site evaluations of over 200 locations. The results of the survey will inform the preparation of the Sandwell Local Plan which seeks to protect our most important open spaces as part of the growth strategy for Sandwell.
Having conducted four previous Open Space Assessments, the council has used these evaluations to monitor conditions over time, allocate resources strategically and enhance the overall quality of open spaces across the borough.
Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Infrastructure, Councillor Peter Hughes, said: "I strongly encourage residents to take a few moments to participate in this survey.
"Our wonderful open spaces and play areas are not only great for leisure, fun, and enjoyment but also offer numerous health and wellbeing benefits.
"By completing the survey, residents can share why these spaces are important to them, suggest improvements for the future, and assist us in creating inclusive spaces for all communities.”
To express appreciation to participants and encourage wider engagement, the council is offering a £25 shopping voucher through a prize draw. One person from each of Sandwell’s six towns will be selected as a winner.
